Been getting a lot of spam comments on just one of my stories at the AO3 the past week. Does anyone know why they're targeting just that one? Do I simply delete them, or juts mark them as spam?
I'm not sure. I know I tend to report LJ spam...then decide to delete the comments anyway. I don't like them cluttering my stories.
AHA:
What is a spam comment? What can I do about spam?
A spam comment is a comment automatically posted by a machine, often containing links to other websites or advertising. The same comment posted many different places where it isn't wanted can also be spam.
If you receive a spam comment on one of your works, follow the 'Spam' link that will appear for comments from unregistered users to report it to us. This will screen the comment from other users. You need to choose 'Delete' to delete it altogether.
Locking it will probably work in the short term, but definitely report the spam to the AO3, because 90 comments is just ridiculous and way more than you should have to handle on your own.
I hope the spam issue has been resolved! And hopefully without too much damage to your button-pushing finger. :)
*snuggles back* Sorry this is such a late reply. The writing's been going pretty well! I have two long-ish fics with betas now, and I'm starting on my paperlegends story. How about you? Is there anything you're working on right now?
Yep, I ended up locking that entry against non-registered users, and haven't gotten spammed since.
Hooray for productivity!! I've always adored your stories. Nope, not anything going on on the writing front for me. I teach crochet and knitting at the local senior citizen's center, and have been devoting myself to finishing more of my crafts than writing. I *do* read a lot, though!
...Perhaps that explains my Merlin withdrawal signs... :D
Craftiness is awesome. SO much respect for you for being able to do crochet. I love knitting, but crochet has always totally baffled me. (What happened to the second needle? What's this hook thing for?) Can you do all kinds of awesome lacy things?
