KnitMo Update

So I mentioned how I'd try to do twelve pairs of fingerless gloves this month. Three a week! And even though I'm working a lot more hours at my job than I'd anticipated, I'm pretty well on track. HOORAY!

Bear with me while I try to show you what I've done so far.

First there's just the basic fingerless glove. I was testing sizes and seeing exactly how tight some of my stitch gauges were. This pair ended up a little loose, but hey. There're folks out there with bigger hands than me.

Next I tried some simple cabled gloves but the pattern on those needs adjusting. The cable's waaaaaay too far over to the left -- to the right on the other hand -- for it to really look symmetrical.

I did discover a pattern for some crocheted fingerless gloves, and I loved how fast they worked up. Now if only I get them a little more elastic-y around the wrist...

The past four or five days, however, I've been trying a new festive knitting technique that [personal profile] mad_maudlin talked about a week or so ago. It's a neat way to do colorwork up one side without floating your strands all the way around. I think it went pretty well! Both that pair of gloves and this pair went by pretty quick, with only a couple large gauge issues, usually on the left side.

There's one other pair of gloves that I don't have a picture of right now, I gave it to a coworker just as it finished and I keep reminding myself to ask her to model it. Variegated yarn, in blues, with a more centered cable up the center.

So that makes .... *counts* .... six pairs done by my halfway mark! That's exactly where I needed to be! HOORAY!!!

(Thanks for the patience with the pictures, I still don't know how to post 'em on my journal so prettily like everyone else. *hugs everyone tight*)
